AMBASSADOR21 interview by MaRock Magazine

They are coming straight from Byelorussia, AMBASSADOR21 is a project that may damage your ears with his great Digital HxC, A21 answers here to some questions for MAROCKmagazine readers! Enjoy it!

MAROCKmagazine: Can you give us a short overview about AMBASSADOR21?

A21: That’s about us. You live – people, cities, drinks, love, friendship, catastrophes… Once you can’t keep the silence anymore. That’s AMBASSADOR21 starts.

MAROCKmagazine: Do you think that there’s something in common between punk and Digital Hardcore?

A21: Firstly we need to understand what does it mean “digital hardcore”. We think there is a lot in common between Punk and Industrial music definitely. At least we think so. And we play industrial music, but a lot of punk bands influenced us many years ago – RAMONES, CRASS, DEAD BOYS, DEAD KENNEDYS, MINISTRY – a lot.
If speak about “digital hardcore”, this term sooner been created for definition of some kinds of electronic music, which musically could be breakcore, gabber, noise, ambient or just shit - whatever you want, but has some general thing: no standard. Yes? Now we’re not interested to speak about “digital hardcore” or to be “a part of new digital hardcore scene” which is strange and dogmatic, or talking about “traditional digital hardcore” (which means nothing). Okay, you can say “AMBASSADOR21 is an industrial band, and A21’ members very influenced by punk rock. Amen ”. That’s enough.

MAROCKmagazine: A lot of Medias compares you with ATARI TEENAGE RIOT what do you think about this comparison?

A21: We think nothing about this. It’s their job to find comparisons and looks like educated people.

MAROCKmagazine: What was your best souvenir while touring?

A21: People. Definitely, it’s meetings with our friends everywhere.

MAROCKmagazine: And the worst?

A21: People, definitely!

MAROCKmagazine: How do you compose your music? Which softs do you use?

A21: Aaaahhh… Different. We think, it’s pretty boring to talk about software, hardware or midi-ports.

MAROCKmagazine: What inspires your lyrics?

Natasha: Life, places, cities, people definitely… ; Books – Nietsche, Camus, Orwell, Miller, Gibson, Stephenson, Thompson, Coupland, Home, … ; Music – DOORS, RAMONES, MINISTRY, … ; Vine – some red… .

MAROCKmagazine: A new AMBASSADOR21 album is coming soon, could you tell us more about it?

A21: Actually we work on new tracks now. It will becalled “Weight Of Death”. This album will included new stuff, some collaboration-tracks we recorded together with CONVERTER, MOTHBOY and ROGER ROTOR, as well. As on couple of A21’ latest releases, we continues to cooperate with our studio guitar player J. aka CTRLer, and Mark Kammerbauer aka FRAGMENT KING play some bass guitars on “Weight Of Death”. We includes some songs, which has been released previously on different compilations, as well. “Weight Of Death” should be hardest album in A21 history since 2001. We are very satisfied by results for the moment. From other side, our sound has some changes last year, because a lot of reason, as World around us has changes - and very serious changes!

MAROCKmagazine: Apart working on the next album, do you have some projects for the coming days?

A21: Debut album of our side-project SUICIDE INSIDE (it’s more Natasha behind that) will be released very soon, and we like it a lot. Sure, you could find some comparisons with A21, because – yes, it’s same parents, haha! Main difference is A21 is extravert, but SUICIDE INSIDE is intravert. And it’s really brutal.
We recorded collaboration album together with FRAGMENT KING, as well, and it will be released in 2006 as well. That was really funny to do it, we produced so harsh sound, and all this stuff has been created spontaneously, which was really fun to do it.

MAROCKmagazine: What can you tell us about your label Invasion Wreck Chords?

A21: We run Invasion Wreck Chords as independent label focused on industrial music. We started it as label for A21, and now we cooperate with different artists, as well. Our latest release – FRAGMENT KING “Grey Album”, which is really harsh and mental, and absolutely brilliant. New part of “Invasion & Friends” compilation-series – “Pandora”s Box” coming in February and included unreleased tracks of our rooster’ artists – RASPUTIN, SUICIDE INSIDE, FRAGMENT KING, MONOID, AMBASSADOR21; and our friends – CONVERTER, KLANGSTABIL, DIVE, SYNAPSCAPE, PROYECTO MIRAGE, SHORAI, CTRLer, NOT HALF, NTT, MIMETIC, ISZOLOSCOPE, DALEK, P.A.L, ROGER ROTOR.
Just keep your eyes open for our new projects and releases.

MAROCKmagazine: It’s seems that there’s no scene in Byelorussia, doesn’t that affect your music?

A21: No. We don’t think 24/7 about – if belorussian scene OK or not. As we don’t think 24/7 about deutsch or French or morrocan industrial-metal-ebm-hardcore-whatever you want scene. How it can affect OUR music, if some OTHER people do something or not?

MAROCKmagazine: If ever you get the opportunity to come and play in Morocco would you come?

A21: Sure! Just let us know!

MAROCKmagazine: Do you know anything about the Moroccan underground scene?

A21: Not really, sorry – we just so far from you. But we hope we will!

MAROCKmagazine: If you were asked to leave everything to live in an isolated island, what are the 3 cd’s you’ll take with you?

A21: Three CDs is too little. We need 5 at least – we’re two persons by the way!
DOORS “The Doors”
RAMONES “Rocket To Russia”
MINISTRY “Psalm 69”
FOETUS “Love”
AMBASSADOR21 “Weight Of Death”

MAROCKmagazine: Do you have any question that you always wanted people to ask, but you were never asked? What is it and what’s the answer?

A21: OK, just ask us: “Are you Geys?”

MAROCKmagazine: Thanks a lot for your time, do you have any last word for MAROCKmagazine readers?

A21: If you was born as a person - then run. Run with me.
