“Groupies welcome!”

Side-Line

The 2nd series of “Peacemakers Inc” starts in France with the Chrysalide project. This band features five songs, which will for sure an opportunity to get a bit more familiar with this band. Chrysalide sounds quite merciless in sound and a bit anarchistic in style. The project combines industrial, punk and heavy beats. The song “Lifestyle” sounds like Limp Bizkit transformed in an industrial style. It’s quite an interesting and aggressive piece. The cover version of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall” is a well-crafted rape of this legendary rock song and seems to prove the non-compromised style of Chrysalide! Ambassador21 comes next and once more reminds us that they are for sure the heaviest industrial band in Belarussian history. Somewhere in between noise terrorists, sonic manipulators and anarchistic industrial minds this male-female duo strikes back with a new and non-compromised blast of powernoise and experimental heavy noise. The opening cut “”Comes In Your Face” is a very good illustration of what this combo is capable of. Starting with a classical violin part they transform this peaceful part into a heavy blast of noise mixed with samplings of Bill Haley’s “Rock Around The Clock”. Merging English and Russian screams on “I Wanna Kill U.Com 2K9” nothing seems impossible for this project. The last piece “Enough” is another tormenting cut of sonic power although it reveals a more coherent or do I dare to say ‘compromised’ style. We’re moving back to France for the last band and last four songs with the great Punish Yourself. They here bring four live cuts and for all those who have seen this band on stage, you’ll agree that this is a fantastic and unique live experience. It’s not that easy to pack all the power and especially the strong visual character of their shows on CD, but the live versions are however damned efficient. This is an opportunity to get back in the rock-industrial-power style of songs like “(My Name Is) Legion”, “Zmeya” and the absolutely f****** cool “Shiva Only Is God” leading the band on the edge of trance structures. The 2nd chapter of Peacemakers Inc. is definitely harder than its predecessor. Both albums deliver great projects that are fascinating and diversified in sound!

Gothtronic

This is the second part of the new triple split series releases by Ambassador21’s own label Invasion Wreck Chords. Were the first one was a split between Config.Sys, Contagious Orgasm and Boot Sector-Viruz, this time it’s war between Chrysalide, Punish Yourself and the masters themselves, Ambassador21.
People who recognize the label and bands on the album, know what to expect; post digital hardcore with lots of powernoise and industrial violence. Chrysalide starts the album of and delivers 5 tracks. All the tracks contain the hard and fast beats, noise breaks, guitars and distorted screaming. Next up are Natasha Protasova and Alexey Protasov, who are of coarse Ambassador21, and they also have 5 tracks on offer. Surprising enough, the first track by them, ‘Comes In Your Face’, begins with a sample of classical music. This is placed very well after the extreme noise of Chrysalide’s last track. Eventually the beats and breaks come in, we hear Natasha’s voice and hard guitars come into the mix. The track ‘I_WANNA_KILL_U.COM’ is also very energetic with its gabber-like beat. Also ‘Enough’ is a great high-energy song. Ambassador21 really represents everything that is great about energetic post digital hardcore powernoise. The last 4 tracks are from Punish Yourself. Interesting is that al the Punish Yourself track are live recordings. The quality is very good though. They also fit perfectly on this compilation as far as sound goes, though they are more guitar-driven and incorporate a more industrial rock sound. My favourite tracks by them are ‘… Than A Thousand Suns’ which is a short built-up for the next song ‘Shiva Only Is God’. The song has awesome rhythms and structure and the guitars work very well.
A very hard and energetic post digital hardcore/powernoise album! It isn’t groundbreaking or original by any means, but it is great at what it wants to achieve, very hard-hitting industrial. My favourite tracks are probably from Ambassador21, but they also are the masters of the style these days. Also I dig their vocals very much, to make their songs even more aggressive and energetic. Also the 2 mentioned tracks by Punish Yourself are very good and do change the sound a bit to make it somewhat more diverse release. All in all, you probably know what to expect, but you also know you want it! And you probably need it too in these stressing days! Recommended.
