GOTHTRONIC
A distribution by Ant-Zen and Invasion Wreck Chords, final edited by Ambassador 21, titled Peacemakers Inc… What might one expect? – The kind of peace made by dropping warheads in apocalyptic scenery. – That is what this collaboration of Config.Sys, Contagious Orgasm and Boot Sector-Viruz is showcasing, assisted by their underlining slogan “Join Noizzze Guerilla” showing on the album cover.
This triple-split CD is not meant for those unfamiliar with these projects and labels, this is true electronic violence. When the genres competition is lethal for projects in the genre, these guys know how to form a frontline against most new electronic projects.
Config.Sys starts off showing their experimental side by combining ambient noises with machinelike soundscapes on “Laika Rest in Peace in Outaspace”. “Bite the Bullet” is a better track for club life, it is rhythmic industrial on the edge of power electronics, and still just danceable. Config.Sys is followed after a collaboration track with Contagious Orgasm which then subtly takes over. This second project fills the middle of the album with tragic melodies, militaristic drum sampling and a high level of tripping, especially on the track “The Argument of Sense of Incongruity”. This project is more synthetic and less brutishly oriented. For noise standards this even has a tendency to becoming a little bit too catchy electro-like, it stays industrial though, because of the usage of air-alerts, militant beats and the sound of anti-air defense resounding in the songs. Boot Sector-Viruz takes its time to build the last section of the album back up, starting with a faint beep directly set upon the beat, slowly increasing pace. With “Misery Machine” the project is going for a more gritty sound, and I get tempted to fully open up the bass and treble on my sound system, especially because after this track, it seems to only get louder.
All in all, this album cannot be considered the most brutal thing amidst the brutish, but definitely belongs to the kind “Uncompromising to the fans of sweet music”. The projects show a lot of overlap, song transitions are done smoothly and the tunes played are recognizable. All three projects are known for well danceable beats, high levels of crackling noise beeps and continuous use of glitch melodies. Peacemakers Inc. their militant rhythmic noise is what ties the projects together. For those who truly want something experimental the album is lacking in renewing the genre a bit, it’s rather full of cliches inside the genre, the quality delivered is non-stop well-done though.
